A Record-Breaking Catalogue
The September sale featured our largest catalogue of the year, boasting over six hundred lots. This diverse collection included art, antiques, collectibles, jewellery, and even a modern classic sports car.
As the price of gold has continued to rise since the beginning of the year, we witnessed remarkable prices achieved for jewellery.
Highlights of the Sale
One standout item was a ladies' 18ct gold Omega watch. This exquisite timepiece sold for £3,850 plus buyer’s premium. It was in excellent condition and came with its original box and paperwork, making it a true collector's item.

The high prices for gold and silver were evident throughout the catalogue. An 18ct gold fob chain, weighing an impressive 46g, sold for £2,550 (plus buyer’s premium). Additionally, a fine quality Scottish three-piece tea set fetched £900 (plus buyer’s premium).
Another highlight was a framed impressionist-style oil on canvas depicting a country lane by James Brown. This painting eventually sold for £1,500. Notably, Brown never exhibited his works during his lifetime, so it was wonderful to see this piece garner so much attention during the viewing, leading to an exciting bidding battle.

Furniture Trends
As always, we had a good range of furniture in the sale. However, mid-century furniture once again proved to be the most popular, with no signs of demand slowing down.
A swivel pod chair after Eero Aarnio for AskoA sold for £460. A mid-century teak ‘circles’ sideboard went for £380, while an unusual marble-topped table fetched an impressive £1,520.
Unique Finds
Among the more unusual items in the sale was a ceramic satin polychrome figural group titled 'Mermaid Family.' Designed in 1937 by Abele Jacopi, an Italian artist (1882-1957), this piece sold for £1,200 despite having some chips. Buyers were clearly drawn to its unique charm.

The Impact of Gold Prices
The rising prices of gold and silver have significantly influenced the market. Collectors are eager to invest in quality pieces, knowing that these assets can appreciate over time. This trend is likely to continue as more people recognise the value of investing in tangible assets.
Conclusion
The September sale was a remarkable event, showcasing a wide array of items that appealed to various collectors. From stunning jewellery to unique furniture pieces, there was something for everyone. As the market evolves, we look forward to seeing how these trends develop in future sales.
